Lose Weight

Lose weight by overcoming your body’s reluctance to change.

Many diets to help you to lose weight have strict rules which have to be obeyed each day of the week. Even if you find one that you can follow without too much trouble to begin with, you'll soon find that it becomes a bit of a chore because of its rules.
Usually, your normal eating habits must be thrown out of the window and you must change to a completely different way of eating. This can be tolerated for a short while, but most people soon get tired of being constrained in this way and start to go back to their old ways. And guess what? They put any weight they may have lost back on and keep on going up above their previous weight.
So what can you do?
Well fortunately, you can lose weight without a strict, immediate diet regime.
You are probably aware of the fact that the body and brain simply hate change. Why do so many people stay with the same bank, gas or electricity company, etc. even though they know that they could most probably make savings by changing to another company?
It’s because people hate the bother of change.
How can you overcome your body’s natural resistance to change?
The truth is you have to be a bit tricky and fool your body into thinking that you’re not really changing anything much!
If you take small steps day by day, week by week, month by month, your body won’t notice anything is happening. But by the end of six months, let’s say, you’ll have managed a huge change in your eating and daily-life habits. And you’ll have done it without your body noticing. So it won’t want to go back to anything!
What you are doing by losing weight without dieting is developing a healthier lifestyle. This means you’ll lose weight by gradually shedding the extra pounds and you'll also change the way you approach life.
The best thing is that you will not slip back ever again, because now the fact that your body doesn’t like change will work in your favour. It won’t want to change back to the way you were!
Are there any disadvantages then?

Well, there is one.
As you’ll be making gradual changes to your lifestyle, it will take more time before you see any noticeable differences in your size and weight. What you must remember, though, is that the changes are gradually accumulating and will be permanent. Whereas with the ‘get slim quick’ diets, you may lose weight quickly, but you’ll soon put it all back on again.
So how do you gradually change your lifestyle?
There are two vital parts of your current lifestyle that you must change gradually:
(1) What you eat and how you eat it and
(2) The exercise you do.
(1) Eating:
(a) Instead of the normal three meals a day; breakfast, mid-day meal and evening meal, gradually change to smaller meals spread out over five times a day with about 2.5 hours in between each meal. (See my post about 'Belly fat' )
(b) Cut down on what you eat from about three hours before going to bed. Work towards eating nothing during that time.
(c) Instead of eating pre-packaged or canned vegetables gradually change to eating fresh vegetables.
(d) Start to drink more water throughout the day and gradually cut out soda and fizzy drinks.
(e) Gradually cut down on sugar. Start by putting 4 instead of 5 spoons in your tea or coffee, for example, and work your way slowly down to having no sugar at all.
(For more information about sugar see my posts 'Cut down on sugar' and 'How harmful is sugar'.)
(f) Cut down on biscuits, cakes or crisps and gradually introduce healthy snacks (fruit or vegetables) instead.
(2) Exercise;
(a) Look for ways you can use your normal every day activities to exercise. Gradually build things like taking the stairs instead of the lift or the elevator into your daily activities. Walk or ride a bicycle instead of using the car.
Find an activity that you like. (see my post about 'Aerobic exercise' for more help with choosing an activity)
(b) Go for a walk during your break.
(c) If you watch TV, do some exercises during commercials.
Whatever you chose, the most important thing is that you start to think about being more active. If you enjoy the activity, you’re more likely to carry on doing it.
I expect you’ve noticed that I used the word gradually quite a lot above. It’s the way forward.
Choose one tip from the ‘eating section’ and one from the ‘exercise section’. Apply them until they are really habits which you do automatically without thinking about them. Then try the next tip from each section.
You’ll have a healthier, fitter lifestyle sooner than you imagined possible. And the great thing is, your body won’t want to go back to the fatter, unhealthy lifestyle you have now.

Amazing before and after pics, I can't believe these are the same people!
